Generally we are not going to put our laptop in water as they cost hundred of dollars, but no one knows how and when accident is going to take place. If you find your laptop is wet due to water or with some other liquid, then as a first step you must make sure that the laptop battery is not still attached with your laptop, also make sure to unplug the power cable from the source if the device is in charging process.

After this, wipe all the liquids off with a cloth, still if you are unable to wipe all of them, then you can also put it under the fan. Most importantly, if you still think that it is not completely dry enough, then you can also usage blow dryer (at the lowest level). Along with this, if you have good knowledge and experience of disassembling the parts like RAM, Hard Drive, Display e.t.c. then it is superb you can wipe them too. After wiping the device completely, keep the device off for 3 days or more. You can also keep the wet parts of the laptops over the uncooked rice because they soak water easily. Do remember that most laptop warranties do not cover the accident caused by spills, so it might not be a wise step to claim free service at the authorized service center. However, some laptop warranties are also against the spills so read the terms and conditions if they cover against the spills, then your repair cost is going to be saved.
