What is Captcha?

CAPTCHA or Captcha, meaning “Completely automated public Turing test to tell computers and humans Apart” is a sort of challenge-response test to ensure that the response is to produce human articles not by computer. In simple words, the CAPTCHA is a word experimentally, which meets at the end of the registration form when signing up for Gmail or Yahoo account. The following illustration shows typical specimens CAPTCHA.

Almost all Internet users will experience thisin their daily use “CAPTCHA“, but few are aware of what it is and why they are used. So in this post, you will find detailed information on how the CAPTCHA works and why they are used.

Who uses captcha?

CAPTCHA is used mainly by websites that offer services such as surveys and registration forms. For example, web mail services like Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail offer free email accounts for users. However, each registration process, CAPTCHAs are used to prevent spammers from using a bot to generate hundreds of spam e-mail accounts.

Why is Captcha used in various websites?

CAPTCPA is used primarily to prevent software robots (bots) to perform actions on behalf of real people. For example, when opening a new mail account, you will encounter a CAPTCHA at the end of the registration form to ensure that forms are filled out by someone legitimate and not for any of the software automated or computer bot. The main purpose of CAPTCHA is to take a test that is simple and straight forward for a human to answer, but for a computer, it is almost impossible to solve.

How do we break the Captcha?

The challenge of breaking the CAPTCHA is the really hard work to teach the computer how to process information in a manner similar to the way people think. Algorithms artificial intelligence (AI) must be designed to make the computer think people when it comes to recognize patterns in images. However, there is no universal algorithm that could pass through and break all the CAPTCHA system, and therefore each CAPTCHA algorithm must be solved individually. It might not work 100 percent of the time, but it can run often enough to be worth the spammers.
